I Only Want To Be With You

This is such a lame video, but still…it’s Dusty Springfield!  I heard this song on the radio on the way home from work today and was bouncing around in the car like a Ping Pong ball.  There are snazzier versions of the song by others, but nobody has Dusty Springfield’s voice.  It’s such a happy song, and there is just something about that lyric, “You started something with just one kiss…”

  1. Wow! I wasn’t aware that there was a geezer MTV. Seems like I’ve heard that song before but i think it was a theme song to some long forgotten t.v. show.

Dusty could sing but she damn sure couldn’t bust a move. “I only want to be with you.” I’ll get to the bottom of it….

  2. I’m pretty sure that song came out in 1964 when you were a fetus.
It is quite amusing to watch her not dance. Britney Spears, she ain’t. Seems like it was only a couple of years after this style that everybody admitted that dancing was practice for having sex and just went ahead and tried to perfect it.

  3. if everybody practiced sex after this video, everyone would have lost faith in their partner and went out to seek someone else.

she didn’t make me want to have sex. she made me want to shoot whoever was filmimg the video!

  4. lol I remember Dusty Springfield. She was tops. Great voice!

  5. lol pt. Next up: the other great girl singer/songwriter of the ’60’s, Jackie DeShannon.

  6. Did she first sing it or…? I preferred someone else’s version but I cant recall who…

  7. As far as I know, she was the first one to ever sing it. I saw that version too, but I didn’t like the whole still photograph thing. It’s supposed to be a video!

  8. FYI, Dusty Springfield died in 1999 at the age of 59, about 6 weeks before her 60th birthday, of breast cancer. Which she had been diagnosed with just 5 years earlier.
